GRAVITY YOGA

GRAVITY YOGA

Unlike other styles of yoga, which are focused in part on building strength, such as Ashtanga or Hatha, all the poses in gravity yoga are held passively.

The whole body is kept completely relaxed (or limp) to allow gravity to do all the work of stretching, hence the name 'gravity yoga'.

The beauty of gravity yoga is that there is no weight, age, or gender restriction.

The benefits of gravity yoga:

  • Increase range of Motion
  • Reduce imbalances
  • Intense stillness
  • Deep Mind-body connection
  • Helps with routine

Through long deep stretches, gravity yoga will help you increase your range of Motion and regain flexibility lost to age, a sedentary lifestyle, or sustained active exercise such as running.

As flexibility is lost, the body adapts in ways that can create imbalances that lead to back, neck, hip, and knee pain. With regular practice, gravity yoga can reduce these imbalances and resulting pain.

With hold times ranging from two to five minutes in both yin and yang poses, this practice will challenge you to remain still, unlike any other form of yoga.

Through stillness, you will build strength in your mind and body while gradually improving your overall mobility.

With Long hold times, gravity yoga fosters a stronger mind-body connection. This provides the opportunity to better listen to your body and address weaknesses, points of pain/discomfort, etc.

The greatest reward of this practice is achieved over a long period of consistent practice.

Make gravity yoga part of your weekly routine by practicing two or more times every week, and you will notice a marked difference in your mobility and the mind-body connection.
